Resources

Eight resources form the backbone of Voidtide’s economy. Players gather, transport, and sell them to generate income.

To gather a resource, you need:

  1. The matching harvesting device installed on your ship
  2. Any level in the corresponding skill (higher = more yield)
  3. 1 energy per gathering attempt
  4. Be in a sector that contains that resource

Resources are distributed across the galaxy. Some systems are rich in certain resources, others are barren. Finding profitable gathering spots and trade routes is a core part of gameplay.

At skill level ~50, you can see the remaining amount of a resource in a sector. Below that, you gather blind.

The amount gathered per attempt depends on your skill level:

10—192
20—293
50—596

Formula: floor(skill / 10) + 1

Crystals, Organics, and Void Essence can only be sold at planets. Player stations cannot buy these. This creates natural trade routes from gathering locations to specific planets, with all the piracy risk that entails.

Planet buy prices fluctuate based on how much players sell there:

  • Heavy selling drives prices down (toward 0)
  • Prices recover over time when nobody sells
  • Smart traders diversify across multiple planets
