Ship Structure
Every ship in Voidtide has a structure value that degrades over time through use and combat. This represents long-term wear and tear — an aging process that cannot be reversed.
How Structure Works
Section titled “How Structure Works”- Structure starts at 100% for a new ship
- Combat damage and general use reduce it gradually
- Structural damage is irreparable — no skill or station can fix it
Effects of Low Structure
Section titled “Effects of Low Structure”Below 22% structure, the ship’s maximum hull becomes limited:
- The theoretical max hull = structure value x 10
- Even with a maxed-out Repair skill, you can’t repair beyond this limit
Example: A ship at 15% structure can only have a maximum hull of 150, regardless of its original hull capacity.
Strategic Implications
Section titled “Strategic Implications”- Ships are consumables in the long run — eventually, you’ll need a replacement
- Heavy combat accelerates structural decay
- Traders who avoid combat keep their ships longer
- Plan ahead: start saving for a replacement before your current ship becomes too fragile
- Structure decay adds a natural credit sink to the economy
