Skill System
Voidtide features a deep RPG skill system with 24 skills in 4 categories. Skills improve through both active use and skill point allocation at level-up.
Skill Categories
Section titled “Skill Categories”| Category | Count | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Resource Skills | 8 | Gathering efficiency for each resource |
| Combat Skills | 8 | Attack, defense, repair, and tactical abilities |
| Construction Skills | 4 | Building efficiency at your station |
| General Skills | 4 | Navigation, trading, stealth, sensors |
Level-Up and Skill Points
Section titled “Level-Up and Skill Points”When you gain a level, you receive skill points to distribute freely across your skills.
Skill Cap
Section titled “Skill Cap”The total sum of all your skills (except Stealth) is capped based on your level:
| Level | Skill Cap |
|---|---|
| Under 11 | 350 points |
| Under 16 | 425 points |
| Under 21 | 600 points |
| Under 26 | 825 points |
| Under 31 | 1,000 points |
This forces specialization — you can’t max everything. Choose your build wisely.
Skill Decay
Section titled “Skill Decay”Skills above 100 points will slowly decay if not used regularly. This prevents players from parking a high skill and ignoring it forever. Active use keeps your skills sharp.
XP Sources
Section titled “XP Sources”XP is gained from: Traveling, resource gathering, selling (good deals), combat, boarding, station attacks, building upgrades.
No XP from: Repairing, scanning, selling at stations, forming fleets.
Construction Skills
Section titled “Construction Skills”| Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
| Shipbuilding | Efficiency when building ships at your station |
| Weaponsmithing | Efficiency when building weapons |
| Shield Generators | Efficiency when building shields |
| Engineering | Efficiency when building engines and harvesting devices |
These skills matter primarily for station owners who produce equipment for sale or clan use.
